Little FrogCon Update! (Version 1.1)

Exciting Frog News!

Little Frog Game is being featured at this years FrogCon, which runs from October 14th - 23rd!  Hosted by the FrogCult, FrogCon is a celebration of the beloved little guys featuring a ton of amazing artists, developers, panelists, and more.

You can check out the FrogCon website here!

To commemorate the occasion, I've prepared a small update to my froggy game, with a few new things and some minor fixes and tweaks.  Here are the highlights:

- Web Build: I hadn't built the game with web in mind initially, but I've found that it runs pretty well on most systems / browsers I have tested it on, so I've decided to enable a version that is playable in-browser.  I hope this allows more people to be able to give it a shot (such as those on Mac), but if you do notice some performance hiccups, the standalone versions run much smoother.  Speaking of...

- Linux Build: I've setup a virtual machine with Xubuntu and been able to try out a new Linux export of the game, which is pretty exciting.  You'll need to allow it to run as a program by right clicking the x84_64 file and editing that in the Preferences tab.

- Sandbox Mode: This is just a fun little addition I decided to put together for FrogCon.  This is basically just one little level that you can freely run around in as little frog.  There is no water meter and no enemies here, so it should be pretty free from stress :)  You'll also find some larger pools of water, while not in the base game levels, you'll be able to "swim" a little bit in these, which is a mechanic I am planning on fine tuning and implementing in an eventual sequel!  I hope you enjoy this little level.

- Signposts: Someone had suggested this as a simple way to add a bit more guidance, there are now some signposts placed in some of the levels as a bit of a guide to nearby water pools or paths that lead to golden beetles that may be a bit more of a risk.

- Minor Level Tweaks: There are a few additions made to the Forest stage, adding an additional route.  There are some very minor tile tweaks in some of the other stages and bonus levels as well.

Minor Bugfixes / Refactoring: Some playback calls for sounds / etc have been refactored behind the scenes, as well as a few small code bits here and there.  I also fixed a rare bug that was only possible in a couple locations - previously it was possible to activate a second tongue flinger whilst in the middle of a fling with just the right timing, due to the tongues collision detector not deactivating properly.  This has now been fixed.

The Future for Little Frog???

I'm hard at work on some exciting music projects for a few indie games, though in my spare time I am still working on the sequel to Little Frog Game.  It's still early but I am excited to see where I can take it, and I have plenty of ideas in mind.  I am working on refining and expanding the movement and tongue mechanics to make the gameplay more dynamic and exciting.  I've also been mapping out a general GDD so that I can plan out the full scope of the game and stay organized.  I'll have more to share on that... some day in the future!  Until then, take care and I hope you enjoy my little game!

All the best,

- Jordan
